Has coached for 30+ years at all levels from Primary School to Senior Professional BBall. At present Dave is a BE Senior Coach and Head Coach of York Eagles and York College B/Ball Development Centre. After several guest coach appearances at USA Camps in Tennesse, Philadephia, New York and Massachusetts Dave has been the Regional Performance Centre Coach for Yorkshire and is active as a Coach Education Tutor for the British Army and the RAF. A qualified L3 referee and L2 table official Dave has a wealth of experience and was the Director of the residential International B/Ball Camp in Leeds for 7 years which catered for over 300 players for 2 weeks establishing itself as the leading teaching camp in the UK.

Diego Carretero Roman
Is a Spanish coach with a two years experience working at one of the most successful junior teams of Spain, Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. Although he is more specialised to work with U16s and U18s teams, in these two years he has coached junior teams at all ages, from U8 to U18. At the present Diego is the Assistant Coach of the U16s York Eagles’ team, headed by Dave Smith. He is a qualified L1 table official, still active playing basketball for York Saint John University team. His 10+ years experience as a player together with his training in Spain as a basketball coach have provided him a great understanding of the game and player needs at different ages.

A 21 year old coach, currently studying Sport Coaching BSc at Leeds Beckett University with 6+ years of coaching experience, after study coaching at Selby College he left for Leeds to pursue coaching further. Mikayil came to the club last years on a placement for a university module, becoming a well-known face at training, Mikayil returned for the 2015/2016 as York Eagles assistant coach for U14’s team, headed by Coach Rhys Bootland. Gaining his level 2 coaching qualification with Dave Smith 5 years ago he has had the chance to coach the current U14’s, U15’s and work with the younger U11’s and U12’s players in the CVL’s leagues.
